Mind in the Making
123 Invest In Me! was honored to welcome Mrs. Erin Ramsey, Senior Program Director of Mind in the Making, to speak with our county's parents about the 7 essential life skills as discussed in the popular book 'Mind in the Making' written by Ellen Galinsky.
For almost a decade, the Mind in the Making organization has worked with top researchers from across the country, filming their experiments and studying their results how we learn best. Erin will discuss multiple topics;
among them will be the seven Life Skills that are essential to success – in school, the workforce and in life as featured in the highly acclaimed book MIND IN THE MAKING written by Ellen Galinsky.
The seven essential skills are:
1. Focus and Self Control
2. Perspective Taking
3. Communicating
4. Making Connections
5. Critical Thinking
6. Taking on Challenges
7. Self-Directed Engaged Learning
Mind in the Making has reached an audience of more than 512 million people since its publication in April of 2010. It has been listed as the number one parenting book on Amazon.com, and continues to receive rave reviews.
The book is a great resource to parents to read about what is essential to our children's lives. The ideas are not over-the-top, no one needs to purchase expensive toys or additional resources to be successful! Playing simple games like 'Simon says' teaches our children about self-control.
123 Invest In Me! has placed books at each library in Ravalli County ( Darby, Hamilton and Stevensville) for groups or individuals to check out. Each book will come with information about our Council as well as discussion questions for group book studies.
